The promise of American Pie

The promise of American Pie

A Poem by Falcon1

One great nation under the will of God

Oh I remember the days
of the promise of American Pie
and the times you could reach the skies
But the dreamer's have died

and the nay sayers said no
to the dreamer's of American pie
With Ice Cream some cherry pie
For that was the way I seen America

In the days of Green Meadows
and perfect fields of grain
Flowing corn fields
and an America held together by the Union

Workers so strong in their numbers
But bought by Corruption
In the ranks I said no thanks
But It was Union or no work

You bought your way in
Paid for your job
to the union leaders
on the take

So you wouldn't be considered so late
That was in the year of the Buck
when it used to be strong
and was respected around the world

It meant something on the world market
It was tops upon other world currency
But time has slipped way for unions
and the union trust not much going on now days

Public cries out for justice
and gets none Labor back to the bottom of the barrel once again some old song and dance
Labor gets a boot in the pants

World markets surge
Public cries out for more
greed expressed in the news reports
the world can be turned on its head in a minute

By fake news
Giving the people the will of no hope
for the world has been doped
with fake news they are choking on their oats

The American pie is not spread to the masses
Some try a short cut to get their piece of the pie
American Pie not as good as it once was
Inflation and many generations have wasted it away what more can I say.

You are right my friend. Old dreams seem deflated and forgotten. Powerful and worthwhile shared my friend.
