She Shared with me Her Lemon Drops

A Poem by Falcon1
"

A candy rhyme

"
She Shared with me her lemon drops

It was such a sour delight
those things they called Lemon drops
But they were a nice treat between her and I
She was a sweet surprise

Lemon Drops was all she bought
At the 5 & dime candy store
for it was 50 years ago
When we first fell in love

Lemon Drops too remind us
If things ever when sour between us
We could stand the test of time
Or we could type out another thyme

For at our local 5 & Dime
Lemon Drops was our sweet treat
Sour to the taste
But yummy to the tummy.

This is one of the best love poems I've read in awhile mainly becuz of the affectionate playfulness & childlike innocence that can be felt thru-out. I love this line: "if things ever go sour between us" (you might want to change "when" in that line, tho). Sorry to be picky, but it's customary to write out numbers & symbols (ex: "five and dime") . . . but not everyone wants to be bound by rules! Hopefully we can make a new (more even-paced) start here at the Café . . . Fondly, Margie

I remember those lemon drops. My dear Grand mother favorite. Thank you my friend for sharing the amazing poetry and thoughts. You took me to a memory.
