A Poem by FarisGreybear
"

"

1. Sinking creeks and Green river bluffs, there I stood.
2. Marveling at the strangest sight, growing through the wood.
3. Redcedar and Sugartree, tandem twins interwoven...

4. Two Trees standing by Dennison Ferry Road.

--Through the treetops poke the old steamboat smoke--

5. Fiddlin' around from Flint Ridge and back down,
6. Walking about, atop the great cave undergroun'.
7. Through the Maple trunk, Cedar branch swells...
8. Slowly grown together, in the bark, the time tells.

--From the Sinkholes blow the wet cave wind--

9. Papery strips threaded between moldy green ridges.
10. Ants dancing about the pearls of sap riches.
11. Needles and broad leaves, sharing the sun,
12. E Pluribus unum, and the many are one.

--Hollow Poplars pipe saltpeter to the flintlocks--

13. No McDonalds or Walmart, just Snowball room.
14. L & N to shortline coach, no need to vroom.
15. Oasis stasis between human and nature...
16. John Houchin's chased bear down there.

--Mother's mouth breathes life and loving warmth--

17. Soaring Red-tailed screams out his song,
18. Staring, mesmerized by those timbers all day long.
19. Towering both over forty foot tall, not two foot apart...
20. Two Trees, one red through the middle, one sugary in its core...
21. Still standing by Dennison Ferry Road.."
