What do you treasure?

What do you treasure?

A Poem by Sane Betwixt

What do you treasure? What do you treasure?

Do you believe in love without measure?

Is it there in the lines of some feverish letter

Addressed to the soul and returned to the sender?

Is it in drunken nights full of chaos and laughter?

When you’re as high as a kite and as mad as a hatter.

Do you treasure your space in a world overcrowded

By intelligent apes, do you feel surrounded?

Do you treasure the mask that you wear every day?
Or the repetitive tasks that pay minimum wage?

How about the pleasure of a worn out embrace?

Too tired from work to do more than touch base.

Do you treasure your family, your cat or your dog?

Or is it about spirituality, do you get off on god?

Got a thing for humanity and doing good deeds?

Or do you swear by depravity, ambition and greed?

Do you feed your insanity or try to maintain

A veneer of normality, is life just a game?

Is the sum of your bliss contained within memory?

Remembrance of times that grow more and more heavenly

With each passing day as your health it declines,

Do you treasure the world you will soon leave behind?

Is it all about art and the things you create?

Would you follow your heart through hells yawning gate?
