Sonnet 2

Sonnet 2

A Poem by Sane Betwixt

When thine own selfish hand has stayed love

And self-imposed famine has taken its toll

Starving and coveting the stars up above

Tired green eyes weary gates to the soul

Bereft of ambition consumed by desire

Caught in the flux of a paradox state

Unfrozen with cold and rejected by fire

Enticing disaster yet cursing cruel fate

Long suffering nights and sorrowful mornings

With you in dreams and then stung by your absence

Ignoring advice and crystal clear warnings

Surprised when the reckoning makes little sense

Our own dark designs withhold all vital things

Forlorn we pine for what fortune ne’er brings
