Comprocomprise

A Poem by Bad bunny

__Comprocomprise__

I dreamt of you alongside me

At dawn on courtyard pew

We took the view down canopy

Beneath some windswept yew

Stirring our brews sweet amity

We drink the mourning dew

Sipping surrenders sanctity

Beliefs we once held true

Kissing the lips epiphany

there lies a me and you

Love your imaginative "poetic-license" title! : )
Along with your well presented display, it brings to mind a loving couple who is comprised on/by compromise … aren't most all meaningful, enduring relationships?
This (to me) has a wispy kind of romantic appeal about it, that invites the reader into your moment to enjoy the increasingly warm imagery … a poem to dance upon the heart.
On the techy side: Your excellently rendered a,b rhyme scheme, in 8/6/8/6 Ballad meter makes for a smoothly captivating, waltzing beat … quite lovely, indeed. Only critique would be the L4 off-rhyme, which can be easily sorted by, "Beneath those windswept yew" (expressing more than one yew, as in a line of yew), or some-such, to match the other b rhymes.
Your picture choices are always compelling, as is your charming syntax (in places) uniquely You.

I'm enjoying your work more and more, with each read.
Thank you, My Fine Friend, for sharing your original efforts! ⁓ Richard 🍃

part poet, part prosateur. It's beautiful and warm like a discussion between lovers. like a renaissance painting with images suspended between medieval and modern motifs. To "drink the morning dew" is a sentiment about the power of rememberability. It pushes aside the forgettable in a surge of reason; in an urge of reminiscence. Very beautifully written...dana

I like your play with words, BB. Your title tells me that you seek ways to say things when available words don't quite make it all the way there. I've found myself doing this too, and that's one of my favorite things about poetry-- that flexibility of language and the way it can stretch an idea to help us reach what we're after.

I have recently began to work on my genealogy and discovered that the town I live in was largely settled by distant relatives of mine a couple of centuries ago. Most of my life I felt like there was a dark tunnel between my lifetime and the 'family tree' of my past because I knew nothing and as such there's a feeling like it is possible to spring forth from nothing. That sounds weird. Anyway, I found a nearby graveyard that had many of my relatives, and my children and I (last week) walked a couple of miles to explore it and try to --I don't know-- absorb some of that history.

I suppose it doesn't make sense for me to talk about all that on your poem, but, your poem reminded me of that space. The stillness of an empty (of living souls) graveyard where there are halls and halls of stories that (after an elapse of time) are largely forgotten. But the spirit of it all remains. The spirit of our experience and those that were intertwined with it.

There's a sense of two people here, but at the same time, a sense like the words are for oneself. A reaching toward understanding. And the stillness/sadness of time having got away.

I always enjoy my forays into your work. There's a mystery that I appreciate encountering.

Compromise can be a tricky travelling companion at times... mainly cos there can be one who can't spell the word! That said, sharing a good and simple thesaurus, almost anything can be achieved! Your words are a sure route to how it can be, the meld of a hugger.mugger of angles and the serpentine. Discovering, '.. We drink the mourning dew - Sipping surrenders sanctity .. '

Does the graphic intend the larger than life and intention or... the shadow of the man when leading a convoluted way ?

Though I believe You are speaking of Your shadow as I can get from Your photo, still this brings so much comfort, ease and peace to the senses, it's calm and smooth, like a soft breeze and have the taste of a lovely daydream, feels like "whole" when You are blissfully "whole" connected and bonded to Your higher self, the two now are one. This is You dear Bunny, this poem is You and so much like You, resonates what it is "You". wonderful dreamy read.

Hey Hey Edie nice to meet you :) thank you for the kind words and read.
Dear Bunny, there needs to be compromise in all relationships, otherwise they will not work out. This little poem has beautiful imagery, but there is a sadness about it. 'we drink the mourning dew'. I can't help feeling that this dream may have had a little regret in it. Very nicely conveyed, touching the heartstrings even.

Every human relationship must have compromise in order to survive. The trick is having each involved compromise the same amount...there's the rub. I liked the word play of the title. Good alliteration and good imagery. I liked this one. Lydi**
