Black Pages

Black Pages

A Poem by Forgotten

A person once asked me,
'What's your story?'
I pondered for moments then I told her,
"My story is untold,
The ink I spend is upon black pages,
For then only I know the story before the pen,
Why you ask? Does is add mystery, maybe? Am I hiding the life I was given?
No....
I write upon these pages so the expectations for me are unknown,
And so the past I have suffered would not interfere with the future I'm given".
Confusion riddled her face,
"But you have told me nothing"
I smiled at her and raised my eyebrows,
"Exactly, I would exist as an entity and through the voices of others,
A ghost by metaphor and a shade in shadow"
She sighed and asked me,
"Will I ever know of your life?"
A took her hands and I told her,
"Well my sweet that's the beauty of it
You have a lifetime to try"

Excellent and original. the narrative style works well in this tale that is spiced in folklore. The ending is beautiful.

Thank you for your wonderful review :)
That beauty of life is that we have this time to figure out who we are but sometimes it'd even a mystery to our selves. You learn something new about people, and yourself everyday. Great write, definitely a favorite

Whoa, great going there, yes, we sure are enigmas which can't be understood that fast, even if we fill a lot of blank pages with the memories of our life it wouldn't result to anything and it might not even change our own outlook of who we really are because we don't understand ourselves either and that's the whole mystery of it. Great job!

This really speaks to me... for years I didn't want anyone to read what i wrote out of the fear of being judged. But I see a deeper meaning here...how sometimes we don't want others to see what we long to become or what we have been. Wonderful piece....great writing!!!
