Tutem te rebore reddam

Tutem te rebore reddam

A Poem by Forgotten

Hero to his name a title his earned,
Yet a traitor to the crown of English,
Upon the field he fought for our honour,
And for land we had lost to the king,
The rays of hope shone upon his blade,
Collecting the blood of the men who disgrace us,
Let your name go down in legend.
Born from the daughter of a Crawford no less,
He fought for our struggle and the kingdom we lost,
Battling for our pride and dignity,
The Scots chant his name for the hero that he is,
William Wallace!
You are a man of history.
That being said we come down to me,
A scrawny lad with no capacity for a fight,
No muscle nor strength to boast,
Though we may share this bloodline,
I could not be the man that you were,
The strength I have not nor no courage dwell,
In these weak bones of mine.
William Wallace an idol in my life,
I look back upon the war that you fought,
Though beheaded a traitor you do still remain,
A hero by all means of name,
So I look to the skies and do say to thee,
Tutem Te Rebore Reddam.

This is a really great write, John-Paul, the education provided was not merely one of William Wallace but of you, as well...I always appreciate poetry that reveals a bit of the writer in the telling ;-) Thanks so much for sharing this with us!

Well spoken. Its good to be from an ancestry you can view and appreciate as you walk the cobbles and pause and stare into the distant views.

Great history lesson here, Braveheart is an all time favorite of mine, and even if Mel is a jackass, he portrayed your hero with dignity and pride. Strong piece of work, much enjoyed this one 'Forgotten'. He'd probably not fancy that name too much, how about changing it to....'I will give you safety through strength'...just saying. ;-)

I'll believe too, haha (:
Safety through strength indeed and a hero without a doubt. You capture the history well in this J-P and weave it with your own worship of this giant.

We do give or take much in life.. and those who give the ultimate sacrifice have the echoes of their lives ringing through history. What payment for their passions... what rewards to come. What a brilliant, powerful write. Watched Braveheart just a week ago...
