Oh the Emptiness of You

Oh the Emptiness of You

A Poem by Foxx Falcon

Oh the Emptiness of you

Born were we of common seed

Once we shared in a silent harmony

Within fields of evergreen we played

Looking wide eyed to the future

Where have you gone?

Between our youth and the now

You went away to hide

You've traded your ambition

For creature comforts

Pawned your freedom

For ease of passage

You've paved your streets

With that broken abundance once so easily yours

If a war would stir you from your sleeping

I would advance with a cavalry unrivaled

If heated words could serve as salve

To the wounds you have known

I would strike embers with my speech

If I could but

Rip from my chest

Peace

And share it with you

That you might see what I see

Know what I know;

All that you could be

If I could but light a fire

Sparking again the imagination of youth

That you might be propelled to greatness

Of all that I have I would give it twice

If to see you happy once more
