Away From You

Away From You

A Poem by Brett Forsythe

Everyone has that one person that they would be lost without.

I don’t wanna go on anymore,
I got nothing to hold on to,
I can’t act like I’m alright,
I don’t wanna be away from you,
I know when you hold me,
Everything’s gonna be okay,
But the second that you let me go,
My reassurance fades,
I’m love struck, I’m so afraid,
You have me happy, so why not brave?
If only I’d get thinking like you do,
Then maybe I could be away from you,
Truth is, I once tried letting go,
Feelings would fade and then they’d show,
I did all I could to forget your name,
I burnt our notes and flipped the frames,
But through the flames, love would persist,
My mind and heart could not resist,
I guess deep down I always knew,

I could never be away from you.
