The Last Goodbye

The Last Goodbye

A Poem by Brett Forsythe
"

Kind of an inside writing, but read anyways and tell me what you think.

"

We traded pillow for blanket before I left,

Held a kiss with one long breath,

Oh but I didn’t want to go,

Your eyes were sad but still stayed dry,

You stood at the door, I waved goodbye,

It’s so lonely on this road,

800 kilometers with no turns,

My tears are wet, my heart it burns,

Do I gotta live so far?

I promise I’ll do all I can,

I’ll make a step, I’ll take a chance,

I’ll get to where you are,

Love is not just X and O’s,

It’s taking risks when you don’t know,

But somehow I feel sure,

I’ll love you with my dying breath,

If we don’t work there’s no regrets,

I’m done waiting on the time,

I’m over wondering, and what if's,

Life’s too short, I’ll take the risk,

To get to where you are.
