Magic Moon

Magic Moon

A Poem by Fran Marie

Magic Moon

~The Villianelle Form~

Sweet music play for me a tune
and I'll twirl 'round in gay delight
As we dance 'neath a magic moon

For love songs softly make heart swoon
while twink'ling stars bestow their light
Sweet music play for me a tune

Blossom scents lend love's sweet parfume
and summer's breeze 'tis airy-lite
As we dance 'neath a magic moon

A merry time, this month of June
when life and love, each one shines bright
Sweet music play for me a tune

If I'm dreaming don't wake me soon
leave me drift 'pon sleepy cloud's flight
As we dance 'neath a magic moon

Yes, play, play on, we two shall spoon
romancing love into the night
Sweet music play for me a tune
As we dance 'neath a magic moon

i really like this one. its so... yes, romantic and melodic and all around lovely. the language reminds me of an old english sort of style poem/song. i can just hear it being played at a medivial fair. but it still also reminds me of warm summer nights in this time period. so, anyways, great job. it was lovely.

'Magic Moon'
Fran Marie,
Oh I enjoyed this lovely and heady poem of warmth of heart and romance! It reminded me just a little of the song silvery moon. You know I am encouraged once again to enjoy and try to write poetry more than I do when I read something like this. I found rythm, cadence and a rise and fall of mood within the feelings which are part or your magic moonlight on a June night; the breeze, the company....so nice!
Blessings,
Kathy

Your lovely villanelle provokes such beauty and wisks the reader away to a beautiful time and place. Your writing is so smooth and does not appear forced or too rigid in any way at all. A gorgeous poem that brings such joy to the heart! All the best in the contest.

There is something oddly timeless about your writing that shows your knowledge, ability, and love for the craft.

This so beautifully written. Right down to the font and color. I love the imagery and tone through out. I just wrote my first villanelle and wanted to see how others used the form. I must say this has inspired me to create more. :)

This was gorgeous. o= What powerful description of dancing beneath the moon on a summer night. The way you used punctuation made this seem almost like a song to be played /while/ dancing beneath the moon. Amazing, great job with the villanelle! ^____^
