The Bold and The Brave

The Bold and The Brave

A Poem by Fran Marie

They are our Soldiersamerica1.jpg soilders image by t_a_n_n_e_r
 fighting with dignity
and truce at hand
believing in that
for which they stand

They are our Warriors
Bold, Brave and True
venturing on to victory
in honor of our flag that flies
ever high,
Red, White and Blue

They are our Troops
who hear the bomb's crude blast
answering ~'Let Freedom Ring'
'we're here to man the task'

They are our Blood
coursing thru~ our veins
Conquering with Valor and Pride
Carrying on America's name

They are our Heroes
who died in Battle's rough
and we'll all be standing
for THOSE who stood for us

Yes! They are the Forces
combined, America's Fighting Machine
with courage in war's steep terrain
Their Brawn and Mettle, wins
us peace of mind, the only thing
that keeps America free and strong!

this was beautiful. such a wonderful piece honoring us service members. i appreciate you for writing this. it truly goes deep into my heart. these pieces always put tears to my eyes. because my other half, as well as myself, are both in the service and it just feels really good that there are people that understand, the reality we all go through.

thank you

It would indeed be nice if we did not need military and police forces, but the truth is that predators do exist, and we are fortunate we have people willing to put themselves between those people and us.

I'm not impressed with the way our leaders command this mighty military machine, but that should never take away from our awe at how those who serve do so with such fierce allegiance to our freedoms. I honestly could not do what they do becuz I could not convince myself it needs to be done in some cases & that's why I'm impressed with the way those who protect us do their jobs without question. Your poem seems to honor that one aspect most of all, that which might be hardest part to live out. Whenever I tout what the military does to protect our freedoms, I also like to include first responders since more & more of the dangers to our freedoms come from within! (And in our horribly fractured society, this means very different things to different groups) . . . Thanks for this heartfelt & powerful tribute to the thing I'm most thankful for on the July 4th holiday! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I come from a military family so you know im gonna love these lines:) Not a single conflict this nation has ever had that a member of my family hasn't been. I think of them all the ones that survived and the ones that fell that I didn't know but only heard stories of:) I think that is why now I am so vocal about establishing true freedom's promise for everyone in this country in these strange days that we are living thru

Fran, I see you wrote this poem long before I knew Writers Cafe existed. Your poem honors the men and women who have fought, bled and died for this country, and those who serve now and will in future generations.

When I read this one, I thought about my many walks through Arlington National Cemetery, and the two Marine Corps Marathons I finished on the edge of the cemetery (at the Iwo Jima Memorial). There are so many white stones there it takes your breath away, and to watch a funeral procession or walk in the grass between the stones reminds one of the price others have paid for our freedom. There is no greater sacrifice than giving one's life for another to be free. Thank you for sharing this poem and honoring our troops.

Happy 4th of July;
Wonderful and powerful words shared dear Fran. We must remember. Freedom isn't free. Cost so much for us to be free. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

What a wonderful poem devoted to those who themselves over to military service for the country! Far too many denigrate the brave men and women who feel a calling to protect out country. This ws refreshinng

Very good poem. I am not sure what meter you were using, but after I read a few stanzas, it worked very well. I do, however; think that you could write the last part better. It is still good, just it needs a little bit of help. The words almost work, just I think they could work a little bit better.
