Another Time and Place

Another Time and Place

A Poem by Fran Marie

 valley

I knew you in another time and place

   accepting your bold advances

       determined to saturate myself

            in your love

We shared our sweet journey together

in valley clover and dancing daffodils

       taking all of life's chances

          throwing caution to wayward winds

Absorbing each other's spirit forever

   soulmates by the surrounding shadows

of the night, chasing down the moon

til the light of dawn, doing what we chose

Right or wrong

no need for rhyme or reason

for hard fast rules there was no need

commiting ev'ry sin doing as we pleased

'Alas twas another time and place

things changed ~there is no reverie

a deep hush falls now, over what once was

                    ever so silently

Fran, I really love your presentation of this poem! The visual beauty caught my eye before I even started reading your words.

My favorite lines were:
"We shared our sweet journey together
in valley clover and dancing daffodils
taking all of life's chances
throwing caution to wayward winds"

Nice job!
:-) Sharon

Hi Fran. This is my first reading of your work and I am thrilled by your presentation, your flow of words, the emotional opposites, and the neat way in which you have packaged this together. Just beautiful, alf

Thanks, Alf, so vey much appriciate your review;
I have yet to read a piece of yours I do not enjoy. Truly, a marvelous piece.
Now, don't laugh, but I am wondering if you meant to put the apostrophe at 'twas instead of 'alas -- I feel silly when I point these things out in a poem with so many views.

This gave me chills! Absolutely extraordinary!
This is a commendable poem. The formatting fits the mood quite well and the it leaves me breathless.
Words, format, and meaning became a beautiful, singular being at your hands.

I think it is beautiful. The imagery and it flowed so easily, such a sweet story saying so much. I loved it!

Thanks Ana,so very much,
As has been said before, the presentation of your poem was really quite stunning and appealing to the eye. It made my eye start moving across the lines without even meaning to start reading! That being said, I like the almost melancholic, reminiscent, bittersweet tone of this poem - wandering through a journey with two people in love - that is a very beautiful idea. One I think most of us want to find at some point, someone to bring along on an adventure. I liked these lines the most, as they were lovely:

"We shared our sweet journey together
in valley clover and dancing daffodils
taking all of life's chances
throwing caution to wayward winds"
