Another Drink

Another Drink

Addiction

Another
 drink
just one more
Another
 drink
he did
implore
he hit
the bottom
was on
 the floor
but all
he wanted
was just one more.

Fancy cars
did not
impress him
and caviar,
he did hate.
he wanted
 the bottle
to caress him
so he
could drink,
 he did not hestitate.

So as
the light faded
to the bars
 he did go
to drink
and think
and sink
so very low.

For coffee
 and tea
he had no need
'Twas the ole
 whisky bottle
on which his
soul did feed

This was
his life
his love
his lot
but little relief
is what he got

So as the
 light faded
 night shadows waited,
drowning his
 sorrows again
to a sad song
which he did belong
A plight
without any end.

When you are in need of strong stiff drinks like liquor of whiskey in the way you are describing the character of your poem, you are not only far gone, but using drink as an anaesthetic to ease your pain or a way to slowly commit suicide. In the end, he will indeed have drowned himself not only in liquor but also as a means of suicide.
A friend of my dad once said to me never to drink when you are sad, because alcohal tends to enhance your feelings. Very wise advise. If you do like a drink occasionally, drink wise and in order to enjoy, drink slowly, so you can let the taste be taken up by your palate. Do not go on a binge. It will kill you brain and in the end yourself.

This is an accurate poem of people who are addicted. Good explanation of what he thinks and sees. Makes it interesting since he’s an un-named protagonist. Good job love it!

.
this a lighthearted approach to a really horrible addiction, unless you have witnessed someone who is alcoholic you cannot understand the destruction mental and physically it can do, a dreadful predictament..well written though!

Disturbingly familiar. You captured the alcoholism perfectly, the need. Good job.

Fine write; so true. I used to drink was wanting to cease to exist but, learned in time to get outta bed and live life as best I could and enjoy the paths taken. Drink these days? Nope not in years.

This is so good!
The rhyming meter is a bit off, but i like how the lines are so short! it makes the poem fast paced but still deep.
I liked the ending too, although it was a bit sad. Still, it was very true
DON'T DRINK PEOPLE!!
but great job!

Intense, short verses leading downward, like the spiraling downhill fall of addiction. Very well written.
