Deep Freeze

Deep Freeze

A Poem by Fran Marie

In a deep freeze
   begging please for
       sun's ease and glow
         but i know yet
the snow still falls, cold and wet

Still my mind dreams
   sunny beams ,and
        it seems it hurts
          freeze alerts stay
               ice skirts another new day

Cold holds his grip
      icy lips kiss
         and nips each cheek
            strong or weak too
t'will wreak it's deep freeze on you

I like the picture. I like the gentle rhymes. And I like the icicle at the very end. 'icy lips kiss' is my favourite fragment...there is something pure and clean about iciness. have just been reading a survey about British sexual attitudes in a Sunday newspaper. couldn't help thinking toooooooo much, tooooooooooooooo much. Your poem could be a hymn to celibacy (if i can spell it). Ach, there is appeal in the sharp, severity of ice. The letters of 'ice' are even there in the word celibacy, which also sounds sort of icy...cel-i-bicy.

I have lousy heat in my apartment and it is too cold for this time of year; and now I had to go plug in an extra heater after reading this :)

I actually like the ice and the cold.
great job

icy lips kiss
and nips each cheek

I actually feel cold after reading this poem. Of course, it has a double meaning to me. Winter, yes, after all I am not much of a fan of winter's bitter cold. You should see me bundled up in wool, hat, gloves and scarves. This poem also reminds me of the heart that is iced over to once again some spring day thaw out. Kudos

Love the visual and the words added a chill feeling to the room. Great write. First poem to spark a senses. "Cold" as oppose to an emotion. Love the classic but creative way your point came across. I look forward to reviewing some of your other poems.

"Cold holds his grip
icy lips kiss
and nips each cheek
strong or weak too
t'will wreak it's deep freeze on you" ~ Favorite lines; brings life to winter, seducing me with his icy love. Personally I hate winter and cold weather but this poem is very pretty and snow is always beautiful to look at. To me, it is the season of purification. Every concept in 'Deep Freeze' is right on point to what I go through during this time of year. Enjoyed reading.
