Saying Somethin'

Saying Somethin'

A Poem by Fran Marie

That's it, go ahead, take another piece of my heart

why should you care this time

you've taken and tore this heart  apart

                               without care, reason nor rhyme

The words you speak don't match your actions

you're always saying somethin' then doing something else

as if you're wanting some retraction

putting this love of ours on a shelf

Well, my love I think it's about  time

to re- think my love anew

I'm mending this jigsaw heart of mine

and I'm using a stronger glue

So pack your bags and hit the pike

      because darlin' we are through

This time I'm livin' the life I like

and baby it ain't with you!

This captures both beautifully and painfully that confounding confusion we oft feel in our dealings with one that claims to love us but then apparently does everything they can to prove that they do not. They offer us the sweetest words, their little promissory notes... and we are content and happy in that moment. Then we try to cash in those little coupons of love, only to find they are worthless. They apologize, profess their feelings once more... perhaps giving us even more of their loving words... and we find once more, they are worthless. Eventually, we find ourselves so emotionally bankrupt... we walk away, crawl away, find some way to drag ourselves away... hopefully. Splendid write.

Wow...that's telling him and then some Fran!

Reminds me of that song "I will survive!"

Beautifully expressed..there is no doubt he got the message!

my favorite lines:

"So pack your bags and hit the pike

because darlin' we are through

This time I'm livin' the life I like

and baby it ain't with you!"

Makes me want to say "YOU GO GIRL"

Fran you have taken something sad and turned it into a delightful light-hearted verse that was sad but fun to read. I especially liked the last verse. It was almost as if you were dancing by the time you reached this part.

I like the part about using stronger glue next time also. Great poem
