The Bluegrass of Kentucky

I've been around this great big world
yes, I traveled far and wide
over yonder hill, and valley dale and across
the country side
 
I been to the Badlands of South Dakota
and California's beaches of sand
even seen Arizona's Grand Canyon
and it's hot desert land
 
 The Big Skies of Montana so vivid and so blue
Chicago's windy city, Michigan, Ohio too
all such great places to see
but the Bluegrass of Kentucky is where I rather be
 
Traveled to Jamaica,France and Italy
 Spain and the Bahamas
across the deep blue sea
but the Blue grass of Kentucky is the only place for me
 
 
Seen the beauty of Colorado's springtime snow
Even south of the border down to old Mexico
Yes, so many places, and all I have to say
The  Bluegrass of Kentucky, is where I'm going to stay

What a wonderful piece full of State pride! Somebody should throw a contest for poems about State pride! Not you! I want this in the entries. I would enter my The Virtuous Daughter for North Carolina. I wouldn't give a hoot to lose to a piece as great as this! I just love the civil sense of pride in a place we call home. Maybe it's lost or dying today in the computer culture? I hope not. I'm adding this to my favorites!
