Pumpkin Dead

Pumpkin Dead

A Poem by Fran Marie
"

halloween write for Sean's Lewis Carroll Contest

"

On a dark halloween night#
there came rolling down the street
a squishy-wishy pumpkin head
it was an ugly -wuggly sight
not pretty or sweet
it's real name was punky-funky dead

It had a cracked-wacky skull
and a rotted-knoted nose
and one crazy eye buggin' out
in the other oogly-googaly worms crawled
and his bloody-bony teeth all crooked in a row
I dare say, a horrid pumpkin head no doubt

The trick and treaters stepped aside
'pon seeing such a scary-wary sight
'twas the dumpiest- pumpkin head they've e're seen
 one lil' wobbly-gobblin girl cried
a boy skeleton died of fright
oh, yeah, punky-funky caused a gory scene

It started to thunder and down came the rain
the pumpkin headed for the old boneyard down the road
and all the children went running their own ways
Punky-funky died and went insane
when the oogly-googaly worms turned into titter-tat-toads
deep, deep, down in the muddy-fuddy ground he now lays

Thanks for a fun Halloween scene with the BEST wordplay for this seasons' macabre contributions to the Cafe! *smile* I love all the double-words (hyphenated) with rhyming or just fun sounding twists. We all know how YUKKY a rotting pumpkin can be, so I was feeling this as you described yours. Perfect balance between YUKKY & lighthearted (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I like how it rhymes. It seems like a poem you'd read to a child on Halloween.

All though a bit different for some reason Halloween 3 comes to mind... anyways this was really funny and most certainly a great diddy for all ages... I think kids should be reciting this as they walk down the streets collecting candy.
