~ROSE~Sestina~

~ROSE~Sestina~

A Poem by Fran Marie

Morning dew kisses Summer's Rose so sweet
As the golden sun greets a brand new day
And your love bestowed upon me is such a joy
'Tis a love which fills my heart
in return, I'll give twice as much to you
Knowing well, I'd be lost without your love

You're everything to me and more, dear love
So gentle kind and sweet
For sun shines naught, but for you
and you brighten for me the dullest day
with your sweet smile of joy
your love is my life's flow, unto my heart

Forever my love, you shall have my heart
'tis only you , for which I live and love
Sure as summer's warm rose brings joy
I'll softly caress you, with kisses my sweet
and when raindrops fall, I'll warm your day
Sharing my dear love with only you

My essense my very soul belongs to just you
As my spirit fades into yours I feel true joy
we're soulmates, of the past ,future and today
We're bonded souls of a true love
And like Summer's rose petals fold tightly sweet
Darling, you and I are of one heart

Your love is passion, burning in my heart
my only desire is loving you
and like the reddest rose blooms sweet
Bringing into my heart a special joy
you are my one true love
Each and Everyday

Rain or shine cold or warm the day
my dear, you're forever in my heart
you must know it's you who holds my love
'Til the dayI die My Love 'tis only you
My spirit sings loud with joy
Because I have your love so sweet

Happy the thought of another day with you
Doth make my heart beat for joy
Like Summer's warmest rose, our love is sweet

Though this is a dedicated poem of love, it has an intensity which separates from comparison with any normal gushing verses of affection..
The classical way in which this love is portrayed and compared is pseudo-Shakespearean in nature and the form and technique add to this effect.
My prejudice for this kind of romantic positivity was suspended whilst reading these lines because of the skillful way that they were conveyed. They have an ancient, charm-like fantasy about them which lends the piece a depth which most poems of its kidney cannot hope to and seldom do attain.

This is a classically well-crafted love poem that seems to reflect the tones of old-timey romance (which seems rather "general" to me, but it's a widely-celebrated style). I'm way too jaded in life (about love) to really delve into a poem in this style, so I'll just appreciate your careful graceful word crafting & not dampen the lovely mood you've spun with my cynicism! *wink! wink!* There are a hell of alot more people who would enjoy your style of poem here, than most of mine that may be more gritty & specific about love! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

twas lovely and my pleasure entirely ... Neville :)
Written a while ago but ever holding that classical elegance you write so beautifully. Sitting here, early morning, wishing there was so much more love like this around our world. Those last three lines say it all.

You say that now... :)
This is impressive, Fran. Each stanza is lovely on its own, but together they are powerful, like the wave train of a tsunami from an ocean of love. Some of the repetitious poetic forms turn me off, but this one is subtle and pleasant to read. And what you've done with it is beautiful. :)

many thanks, Matt, for reading and reviewing glad you enjoyed;
A very nice light and uplifting poem about the intensity of true love. This was very well written, and I can tell that you put some quality time into your writing. Your very talented at conveying your emotions through the text inside your poem. I don't see where I would improve this poem. I think its great as it is.
