In A Gadda Da Vida

In A Gadda Da Vida

A Poem by Fran Marie
"

for Devon's Picture This Contest

"

In a gadda da vida honey

you sent a bullet through my brain

you ate of the forbidden fruit now baby

and drove me insane

I'm in a gadda da vida baby

communicating faster-than-light

now a fragmented soul

imagination traveled instantly out of sight

In a gadda da vida honey

disappearing into thin air

you're still the apple of my eye now baby

they did it to me! can you hear?

In a gadda da vida honey

magnetic particles explode now baby

through transmitted matter from your pride

fax me honey on the other side

It may be that living in England exposure to this music and certainly the story has never been forthcoming and is peculiarly American, or maybe that I have been unfortunate enough never to have encountered it - either way, I have to admit that I had never heard of any of it until now. I looked up the title and listened to the song, and am grateful for having my ignorance heretofore now lifted. It's a cool piece of music, and I think this poem melds the mystery with the lyrics and feel of the song really well. In fact, the psychedelic nature of the whole concept is retained and appropriated rather effectively. And of course once you've heard the song you can certainly hear it beating and playing behind the lines of the poem as you read. Actually the real song is quite similar to Suzi Q.
Great idea, cool concept.

Wow I love this poem especially the last line. Fax me on the other side. this is very creative and the flow is smooth. It has an almost magical tone to it with a hint of sadness.

Referring to authors notes I did not know that... did you know the original title of that song was "In The Garden Of Eden"?

Anyways on to the poem... it certainly has an erie appeal to it after knowing the situation... A creative way to intertwine the song and tragic event while paying a great tribute.
