A LITTLE BOY

A LITTLE BOY

A Poem by a Messenger

This poem was written especially for Ian, and it is with his permission it is posted here.

"

I wish I was a little boy

with so much time to play.

If I had all that energy

I'd run and play all day.

I'd wear a cape like Superman

and fly around the sky.

I'd help catch all the bad guys

and lock them up real tight.

I'd play with little kitty cats

and chase a puppy's tail.

I'd fly off with a magic dragon

and around the world we'd sail.

I'd watch a lovely butterfly

spread out her pretty wings.

I'd listen hard for just a while

and hear the fairies sing.

I'd love to be a little boy

for just a little while.

I'd love to be a little boy

and make my Mommy smile.

This is a very touching poem, just like the other one, "Little Girls". I like this poem just as much, if not a little more, because this focuses on the desire that we sometimes have to return to a time when we were young and didn't have any of the responsibilities that we have now, and how we sometimes wish that we could do the things that we did as a child again. Another excellent poem my friend, keep writing.

Nicely done. I like the poignancy of looking in on youth.

Captured his imagination perfectly. ( He always does this! - and writes "tickets" on post its.)
Thank you so much for thinking of us and writing it!

And I still think you should make a children's poetry book! Keep the great poetry coming!

Ah, to recover that lost innocense of childhood. A mothers smile! Yes, even today, far from that lost time that is a more than worthy goal.

This is so sweet...we don't realize when we're children how carefree our lives are...you help us remember with this poem ;-)

I love this. So sweet.
I have two sons and live for their smiles and laughter. Any decent mother does.

I can look in my family room and see your poem come to life with my two playing pretend and chasing our kitten round the house; or watch my youngest out in the yard as he sits till for bunnies and birds.

Clearly you were this little boy and your memory paints him well. You may not have been able to bottle the energy but you bottled the magick and poured it out on paper.

This is so sweet! You have an extraordinary ability to put yourself in another realm and imagine. I can see you have an awesome imagination. : )

I especially love the closure, "and make my Mommy smile." I love when little boys call their mother - Mommy and I love the thought of little boys making their Mommy smile
