Always Away

Always Away

A Poem by GalaxyGhost
"

Fanmade Song for the Weasley Twins

"
V1. Battling away the empty spot in my soul
You left behind for me to feel.
Together, we were Tragedy and Comedy:
You left with a laugh at the tips of your tongue
And I cried, knowing and living.

Chorus
I promise to keep my head up
You were not a stormy cloud
I will not cry to be honest.
You were my ray of sunshine.
I owe my happiness to you,
Fallen brother.
Now you are away, but always
With me.

V2. Remember? Remember? Missing you,
A piece of me is somewhere, but not here
With me, not anymore.
If I were to see you, it would be in the
Mirror of Desire, my brother.

Chorus
I promise to keep my head up
You were not a stormy cloud
I will not cry to be honest.
You were my ray of sunshine.
I owe my happiness to you,
Fallen brother.
Now you are away, but always
With me.

V3. Mother still sets a place for you
Sweaters knitted, never worn.
Sometimes calls me by your name,
But she suddenly remembers, too.
No amount of tears can bring you back.

Chorus
I promise to keep my head up
You were not a stormy cloud
I will not cry to be honest.
You were my ray of sunshine.
I owe my happiness to you,
Fallen brother.
Now you are away, but always
With me.

V4. Each night, I return to the Mirror,
Asking why you and not me?
You completed  me as friend and brother.
Changed my hair, but it's always you
In that mirror, not me.

Chorus
I promise to keep my head up
You were not a stormy cloud
I will not cry to be honest.
You were my ray of sunshine.
I owe my happiness to you,
Fallen brother.
Now you are away, but always
With me.

V5. Brother, after the Battle,
Home was where I felt safe,
But we took you home in that coffin,
I cried to sleep on your empty bed
Where they found me that night.

Chorus
I promise to keep my head up
You were not a stormy cloud
I will not cry to be honest.
You were my ray of sunshine.
I owe my happiness to you,
Fallen brother.
Now you are away, but always
With me.

V6. At least mother can tell us apart now.
I cry and you do not dry my tears.
Remember that time we only saw
Ourselves as old men? At least we did
Because now we can't grow old together in this time.

Chorus
I promise to keep my head up
You were not a stormy cloud
I will not cry to be honest.
You were my ray of sunshine.
I owe my happiness to you,
Fallen brother.
Now you are away, but always
With me.

V7. I still wear the clock hand of yours
When it fell off the clock
It breaks me every time to remember.
Now once a year, the candles on the cake
Are out and I'm alone.

Mirror, mirror on the wall
I removed them all
After your fall
I saw you in my reflection--this half never whole.

This is a very touching peace GG and could easily be an aid to healing a siblings heart. I felt you achieved a greatness in your writing with this peace and it surely kept me captivated. Well done in bringing the emotions from my heart. Keep up the good work.

This almost made me cry as I have a twin and would feel this way if ever I lost her.

Yep, we're girls. Fraternal though, not identical.
As I've mentioned before, I think repeating a chorus over & over & over & over makes for unnecessary reading, so this starts to feel boring & repetitive . . . however, the verses taken together are very strong & interesting & compelling. I wish this excellent story in verse wasn't constantly interrupted by this repeated refrain. I love the originality of the "comedy & tragedy" explanation in the first verse, especially.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
Very creative and skillfully done. It is touching, a bit sad because of the loss but a song I could see catching on. You did an excellent job on this.

Thank you as I appreciate your thoughts on this piece.
Lovely song. I assuming you shaped it entirely around the Weasley twins(especially considering the picture). of course I simply enjoy any Gemini concept no matter what it's from. I especially like the comments about the mirror I'd didn't take immediate consideration how daunting it would be to see your own reflection and think of nothing other than your dead twin.

I read a really good story about a coven of 13 people/fairies who each represented a unique strength or quality, and someone was killing them off by using their strengths against them. among these 13 people there were the two loyal brothers, the strongman and the swordsman, and the strongman was "defeated" by the death of his brother who was killed by his own blade. this was an incredibly depressing addition to an already emotional story.

This is a very sad and heart touching song to the Weasely twins.
Any one who has lost a sibling can feel the pain that your words have portrayed here.
Nicely done.

Oh my gosh... you have taken out my heart and broken it into a million tiny pieces with this song. I really want to hear it as it's supposed to be sung, but I would probably honestly start crying. So many feels. Favorite/most heartrending lines: "A piece of me is somewhere, but not here"... "Mother still sets a place for you / Sweaters knitted, never worn. / Sometimes calls me by your name, / But she suddenly remembers, too"... "Changed my hair, but it's always you / In that mirror, not me"... "I still wear the clock hand of yours / When it fell off the clock? / It breaks me every time to remember. / Now once a year, the candles on the cake / Are out and I'm alone"... and the last four lines. So good, so sad, so beautiful, so... ahhh! I can't handle the feels. Excellent work.
