Method to My Madness

Method to My Madness

V1.         Let’s say I have something to say on my mind

But words seem to fail me every single time.

My tongue trips and eyes turning into being bind

Yet the only way to say it is in spouting out rhymes.

Chorus

Strategic so you can only hear sanity from madness

Yet my mouth is a canon of jumbled confetti

Tea? Enter my world and see my own palace

Where I spout out words and worlds, it costs a penny.

I live for this world I formed and I stand alone

Yet I have monsters and angels that keep me afloat.

V2.         World reject me and laughter fill my eyes

As the taste of the full moonlight drowns me

While tears fill my tongue with my cries

Reality is now my fantasy that pecks with its beak.

[Interlude of instrumentals]

V3.         My method to madness keeps my sanity close,

Yet my soul is too large to cage in my ribs.

My heart beats to the soulful songs with notes

What price should my soul be put at bid?

Ending Lines

I am keeping my soul and insanity

It keeps me sane and who knows?

Very interesting! I really like the imagery, especially that of "my soul is too large to cage in my ribs" and "As the taste of the full moonlight drowns me." Did you know that lunacy was once thought to be caused by moonlight? Hence the "luna-" in the name. I really like how you added that in there, regardless of whether it was intentional or not. :) My favorite lines are from the chorus: "I live for this world I formed and I stand alone / Yet I have monsters and angels that keep me afloat." So very much relatable. I'm working on writing a book (fingers crossed), and it's one of those things where I'm the only one who cares about it as much as I do, and nobody else really wants to listen to me ramble about it, so I am, indeed, "alone" In "liv[ing] for this world I formed." There are "monster" characters and "angel" characters (figuratively speaking) in this story, and writing about them and thinking about them helps to keep me sane. So, you basically described a huge part of my life with those lines. Wow. You rock. And I like the play on "words and worlds" and a "penny" for your thoughts. All around, this is an amazing, layered song. Excellent work!

I could never write vocal songs, but you did a great job, while giving it meaning.

Thank you!
I especially like the first line of the chorus . . . an imaginative way to say that we are all hiding our insanity, trying to make it look like normality. I also like the second line of the chorus, a vivid image of verbal blathering, but I'm wondering if you mean "cannon" instead of "canon"? This is full of similar imagery, everything originally-stated, yet relatable.

I enjoyed reading this. I thought it was very unique, and I loved the line "Strategic so you can only hear sanity from madness;" it showed very strong contrast. Good work.

Very awesome read. I like how your writing flows together, to make me visualize everything that's going on. Many stories on here do that, and that's why most of the stories I read on here are good because you all are very talented and gifted, I visualized everything as I was reading it. Great writing. On to another topic. I have a website where I post my short stories, and blogs on. I also have ads on the website. I was wondering if you can go to my website, and click on any ad. you don't have to buy anything, I promise you won't get any viruses, all it is is google adsense on my website, and the more clicks on the ads, the more it helps grow my website. My website is bwlawson.com I appreciate it, that you would be taking part in helping my craft, business, product, and brand grow. Thank you!
