Insufficient Words

Insufficient Words

A Poem by GamingGal
"

Sometimes words AREN'T enough

"
Love
A word filled with devotion
Yet never enough emotion
To be sufficient

This word, it tortures me
Promising to be enough
Yet always falling flat
Not rising up

I whisper this word to you
Sweet nothings in the dark
My heart overflowing
My breath shaky

I look into your eyes
Trusting pools of desire
Watch as they fill up
With love

My heart aches
I cannot express it
The way I feel
Love is insufficient

I pour my heart
Into that one word
But I reach max capacity
Before I'm close to done

It's torture, I say
To find no words
Being unable to share
The exact way my heart speaks

So instead I settle for repetition
Constantly reminding you
That I love you
Hoping that one day I can show you
Exactly how much that is

A very adept description of limitation of words. Love, like God, cannot be captured through a word. The word love is not love itself. The language of the heart is feeling, which is intrinsic. Man-made words can not be potent enough to define a feeling.

A beautiful piece!
