Heartbeat

Heartbeat

A Poem by GamingGal
"

Who knew the sound of my partner's heartbeat could invoke such feelings

"

“Come to me

Lay down your weary head,”

Your voice but a whisper

Inviting me to bed

Your chest is my pillow

Your heart, the lullaby

To which I fall asleep

With a quiet sigh

The beat

Constant

Ever

Present

The sound

Soothing

Calming

Lulling

Reminds

Me that

You are

Alive

My heart

My soul

My muse

My life

The last four stanzas are supposed to mimic the beating of a heart: tha-thud....tha-thud...tha-thud....tha-thud. If you see what I mean.

I like the thoughts this leaves behind... heart and caring.

I loved how this poem kind of came together at the end. Once you realize the flow resembles the rhythm of a heart, you're reading the last line "My life." Wonderful.
