My Religion

This is nothing against religion, just something that can be respected.

I was told to pray,
My soul is on the verge of falling today.
I need to be saved!!!
Yeah, but my life is valued so little, I say

"God cannot see me,
I'll respect his rules on how to get praise,
But don't expect me to follow your ways.
It's not how I was raised, I don't need to be saved."

Behold the cluttered pieces of my history.
It's not entirely clean, and I think you'd agree.
Push aside the Book and just take a look in the dictionary,
Next to 'free', my soul you can see.

But don't let me insult you and your ways.
I'm just not taken today, I don't need to be saved.
I like being frayed and having no religious name.
I might be gray, but hey, I have faith.

In myself, that I can say.

Author's Note

I feel more can be added, but I don't know.

I was trying to write a poem and this sort of happened without me realizing it. It's not meant to insult any specific religion and it can be towards any religion, (although it sounds more towards Christianity, doesn't it?)

I guess I made it for the people like me who have no religion and are okay with that.

Criticism welcomed even though I'm not high on erasers today...

And the title contradicts the poem, right? lol

Having been christian (i was brought up that way, unfortunately i was kind of forced into it), atheist (when through a time in my life when i did all i possible could and yet my world went crashing down around me), and then agnostic (because you have to come to terms with the fact that something out their makes miracles happen, be it mother nature or even god of luck - you have to believe there is some other force out there), I enjoyed this poem, on the sole principle that at the end of the day, you are your OWN religion.
