Letter From A Prisoner

Letter From A Prisoner

A Poem by George Coombs

Linked to my activities among people in prison

Letter From A Prisoner

again...your letter...

faint struggling writing

fear in every sound

doors slamming...keys rattling

cell walls hideous with blood...

held in predatory

solitude...

in fear of my life”

no...this is not justice...

it is terror traumatising

the wounded mind...

person is lost winter leaf

cold...alone...

Passionate write - which raises an important issue (speaking from a UK viewpoint here); do prison mental health services now need to ensure that teams are delivering cogent trauma-based interventions. Especially where they are relevant and insure outcomes for prisoners are measured and acted upon. Poignantly penned my friend … :-)

Frightening, haunting words,...the letter of a lost soul...cages are not humane for animals or men. Your words touch my heart.
