Detonation

Detonation

A Poem by Jeffrey Gershom
"

A poem about witnessing an atomic detonation.

"

     Detonation

I saw the flash;

I see no more.

I heard the impact;

I hear no more.

I felt the heat;

I feel no more.

I smelt the flesh;

I smell no more.

I tasted life;

I taste no more.

I was a person;

    I am no more.

Author's Note

Jeffrey Gershom
I wrote this almost 30 years ago while in college. It was published in my college's collegiate chapbook the year it was written. It was a time when many people were talking about nuclear winter. I had a dream about this subject, and the short poem is a result.
