Showered With Relief

Showered With Relief

A Poem by Gillzy

Building up inside, it hits you
When you pull back the curtain.
Step into the steam, the mist,
The new world,
Your world.
Turning your back to protect yourself
You feel the tiny little pellets hitting you,
Drumming sense into you.
That shiver sent through your body is a new realisation.

Open up,
Step further back into Veracity Falls.
Watching each small, round globe
Move slowly down your body.
Over each part of your corpse,
Caring for nothing,
Stopping for nothing.
You see the weight of the world,
Slipping from your shoulders.

Stand tall,
Look proud,
Although the water streams down your face,
You feel your worries wash away.

Kicked under feet,
Stood on and disregarded,
It swirls down the black hole.
To a Nether land,
--Never to be seen again--
A Never land.

Pulling back the screen,
You step out of the cocoon.
The cold light of reality hits you.
The shiver [this time] is one of disappointment.

Wrapped in fluffy safety
You struggle on.
Only knowing that the day will bring
More stresses.
Only to be washed away,
When you visit your liberty,
Tomorrow.

standing in the ocean, or in a rain storm or even in a shower. it's funny how water can wash away all your worries like it washs dirt from your hands. it's a precious resource.
the poem is great, giving thought and meaning to something a lot (most?) of us do every day. who would have thought a wash could sound so good? even stepping out of the cocoon, that cold light of reality is still a promise of something new.
great work. thx

Hey Gillzy. Very visual image you've painted with this one and I could see and feel the water splashing away the day. Very well done. The word "corpse" jumped out at me. That's a bit strong, me thinks! The shower as "eye opener" -- to see the world, the new day, hmmm ... this makes me think of a hangover. Furtive steps and thoughts -- very pleasant piece, my friend. Cheers! Rob

Love this. First time I have ever read a poem of someone having a shower and I can't tell you the images it's left in my head.....'Although the water streams down your face, You feel your worries wash away' is great.
Let me know the next time you're having one!

Wow! This was a great story of momentary escape from it all.... I liked it a lot. Tiny thing, here: Over each part of you corpse, (should it be your corpse?)

Great job though overall and easy to read.
