Father to daughter

Father to daughter

A Poem by Kevin Horsley
"

I wrote this after I had to chastise my daughter and I felt guilty for making her cry...

"

Father to Daughter

You look up at me

eyes teary

staring

caring

eyes like mine

so fine

same colour and hue

same shape too.

How could I

deny

anything of you

no clue.

I write

this night

a means to an ends

to make amends

for punishment justified

you shouldn’t have lied.

Would you rather I clouted

instead of shouted?

The guilt is bad

but understand I had

no choice

but to raise my voice.

It won’t be long

you’ll know right from wrong

and remember

from January through December

I love you always

all days.
