Family day out

Family day out

Family Day Out

Three generations
Sat on a beach in the shade
Sipping lemonade

Waves lap the shoreline
A gentle breeze is cooling
Smiles of contentment

An impish young boy
Sits and builds a sand castle
Sea tide destroys it

Gulls circle above
Their calls endlessly echo
As they beg for food

Inside a rock pool
All types of organisms
Frolic carelessly

The day is ending
And the sky is burnt orange
Beautiful sunset

The family leaves
Chattering about their day
I know they'll return

A very good tale of a day at the ocean. Nothing better then family and time at the peaceful sea. I like the description of a simple day of conversation and family time. Thank you for a excellent poem.

Beautiful.. such a wonderful snapshot of a day at the sea. I love how each stanza could stand alone, yet enhances the entire poem.. great imagery and flow. Favorite stanza:

Gulls circle above
Their calls endlessly echo
As they beg for food

Wonderful write!
