Out for a walkA Poem by Kevin HorsleySometimes it's just nice to get outsideOut for a walk
All appears different when walking on your own in the darkness of woodland or unfamiliar streets.
No one to phone no one at home just this wandering all alone to relieve the stress of a days work and a life of sameness and responsibility.
Strangers glance but this can be ignored teenage gangs on street corners drinking cheap cider rotting their teeth and destroying their bodies with cigarettes and drugs may mock passers by but do not utter a word as you pass them by with a sigh of what a beautiful evening or night and will it never end.
But your traitorous feet lead you home you’re compelled to go in to go to bed prepare for another day of let downs while losing yourself in a fantasy book of which you happen to be the hero lights out goodnight. © 2011 Kevin Horsley |
