To Know

To Know

A Poem by Girl Friday (Sarah W.)

that moment when you know

beyond knowing --

sharp right at the last stop,

turn down a dead end street,

and suddenly you are that girl

the one that fed on phony words,

            as though they were god-nectar

dripped down from a crack in the floor

                        of nirvana

that instant when the Bougainvillea  bites back,

and there is blood on your thumb and forefinger,

on your white dress -- the gown of a ghost,

not the robe of a saint

no church bells toll for you, only funeral dirges

played on out-of-tune pipe organs,

            mocking your mistakes

because you fell for it again, like a child

who wonders at the same magic trick

ten times and doesn’t catch the right angle

and now you know how it feels --

and now you understand why flowers begin to die

as soon as they are cut,

            no matter how many chemicals

            you add to the water

Truth within souls are never truly seen till many moments spent-the quiet and the obnoxiously loud ones--that road and good intentions...that's where You see the flaws start to surface...trust is a cruel and bitter Mistress -but She only proves that somewhere upon sometime is one worthy-Never grow hard-only more aware.
Sadly Beautiful Dear Friday-no matter how wrong about Yourself You may feel from such things-a fall is Your spirit of spring not naivety ... You Pen the feelings Perfectly

As I Yours--still soaking them up ;)
This was a very enjoyable read in spite of the stinging lesson of which it speaks - I like your style of writing in this piece. And, as many of us sadly can, I found I could relate.
My favorite part...
because you fell for it again, like a child
who wonders at the same magic trick
ten times and doesn’t catch the right angle
...struck a chord, and I love how the italics are perfectly placed, it's the perfect emphasis. Great poem. :)

You're most welcome :)
Holy Friday....I feel as though you wrote this one for my silly head. And even though we 'know', we fall for it again & again. Remarkably stupid are we sometimes...

he one that fed on phony words,
as though they were god-nectar
dripped down from a crack in the floor
of nirvana

God-nectar, so so true, precisely hit the nail on the head, outstanding!

Something very deep spoke to me in this poem. I can't explain it, but this one was simply...wow. I'm adding it to my favorites, GF:)

my pleasure
The moment you realize a love is an illusion, or perhaps it was a lie, no matter who did the lying... When that realization does set in, how utterly devoid the world feels, lost down the wrong road, the gown of a ghost, an unsaveable flower, having been cut... Love the metaphors in this piece Sarah, brilliantly drawing me right into this devastated mood...

humane nature-(the way 'we' are) shows so well through your words~ :))
~(i'm sure i have said such before - but it is true...Excellent)~
