I Love You Two

I Love You Two

A Poem by Raven Joann Maaka-Loureiro

My heart is split between two.

With the love for both growing,

My heart slowly breaks.

The pieces shatter in funky ways,

So that the pieces can never fit right again.

I never asked for this,

To love you two.

To have this feeling of being scattered,

So lost, broken, and alone.

I know you love me,

And him and I are just friends,

But a part of you just has to hate me.

I could just smash my head against the wall,

To make all of the throbbing stop.

Torn apart curled into a ball,

I’ll cry for hours.

In the mirror is a stranger,

And I am more broken then before.

I never asked for this,

To love you two.

To have this feeling of being scattered,

So lost, broken, and alone.

I know you love me,

And him and I are just friends,

But a part of you just hast to hate me.

I feel my heart beating loudly,

Shattering again each time you two collide in my mind.

It becomes so painful that I can’t bare it,

But then I remember you two.

Your love, friendship, and that promise,

Keeps me strong.

I never asked for this,

To love you two.

To have this feeling of being scattered,

So lost, broken, and alone.

I know you love me,

And him and I are just friends,

But a part of you just has to hate me.

The pain and suffering is worth it,

As long as I can keep both of you in my life.

The tingly feeling in my wrist screams to me,

I ignore it but then sometimes I just sit and listen.

I do my best,

To keep my promise…

I never asked for this,

To love you two.

To have this feeling of being scattered,

So lost, broken, and alone.

I know you love me,

And him and I are just friends,

But a part of you just has to hate me.

Around both of you,

I feel like me and you won’t judge.

Then I try to entertain you both,

And it becomes awkward because you both know.

With you it’s all lovey dovey, safe, and happy,

With him it’s happy, fun, kicked " back…and guilty.

I never asked for this,

For the two of you to walk in on my heart.

To have this feeling of being in so much love,

Yet lost, broken, and alone.

I know you love me,

And he loves me as a friend.

One day when you will say “I love you”,

And I’ll say I love you two…
