Ode To Sarah Palin

Ode To Sarah Palin

A Poem by Beatrice Boyle (Grandma Bea)
"

It takes more than a pretty smile and an ole boys wanna be, to be a vice-Presidential candidate!

Ode To Sarah Palin

Of Kewpie Dolls, we’ve had our fill
You don’t belong on Capitol Hill
Without a script, you draw a blank

We saw you with Katie and our hearts sank
What were you thinking when you decided to run
It would be a lark…you’d have some fun?
Beauty pageants are not the same
Politics are a different game
You can’t just flash those pearly teeth
You’ve got to be able to think on your feet
And that we know you cannot do
Meeting the press is a disaster for you.

Some call you brainless, I don't agree
Unbridled ambition is what I see!
You love the spotlight...c'mon...confess
But you'd love to strangle the left wing press
You preen and smile when the camera's start
Then the questions come and you fall apart!
You trot out your family, for all to view
That's no place for a baby...shame on you!

You think your folksy ways are cute
But honey, you should just stay mute
I can see you in a standoff with Putin
(That image just gets me pukin!)
You'll bat your eyes and say “you betcha”
Well…it’s not gonna happen
We voters won't “letcha!”

Neither Obama or McCain seemed like the right presidential candidates. (Would've went for Huckabee if he hadn't resigned from running.) But this is hilarious in one aspect, but in another Sarah Palin has a lot more backbone than a lot of women out there have. Not to be disrespectful or anything; though this poem is still a great poem regardless. 4/5.

Hello Beatrice:

I'm here to read the words of the singer! So glad to meet you and be friends!
This poem: points well made with a good sense of humor and I say amen.
Hope to see you here often.

I really enjoyed that! I found myself thinking the same things on more than once watching her on TV.

The only thing I would have mentioned might have been the "Hockey mom" reference, and the "I can see Russia from my house comment." But those were the things that stuck out for me the most about her. (Then again, I make fun of it all the time, I'm from Buffalo, NY, so I like to say "I can see Canada from my house!")

Great job! I really liked it!

Huh, as a fan of Sarah Palin I don't know what to say, should McCain have won we would have our first female Vice-President, and she was the first to dare to run... it was a poem, and putting my personal feelings aside I have to say it was okay.
