A Beautiful Dream

A Beautiful Dream

A Poem by Giulia King

"I guess I just got lost
And you never rescued me."
"I find myself getting lost in books,
Entering new worlds,
Liking empty coffee shops,
Getting lost in memories." She said

"You do hold that against me.
I didn't know where to look" he said.
"That's your problem,
You broke my heart.
That’s the agony of my truth.
But even when I cried myself to sleep every night,
I found hope in the stars,
That one day, you would find me."

"I wish our love would last an eternity,
But like everything precious in life,
I have to accept that it won't.
The way we found each other in this life,
surely we'll find each other in the next life as well."
Her voice was broken,
she kept looking down at her fingers, wishing he didn't see her tears.
She continued:

"Think of me as a beautiful dream.
That suddenly vanishes in the morning light.
Like a little piece of a blue sky."

"I lost you,
I lost you to a million little wrong decisions and chances that I never took."
"Where will you go?" he asked with tears in his eyes.
"I'm not sure where I'll end up,
But I'm sure it will be somewhere beautiful and peaceful"  she said as she gently put her hand on his cheek and wiped away his tears.
He was trying to smile through his tears,
feeling her warm hand against him for the last time.

Unmistakably perfect.

It's funny how a song can make me remember all the things I wish I could forget.
People don’t always get what they deserve in this world.

I loved how the dialogues flowed in this one. It is very emotional, personal and something which any lover from any part of the world could relate to.
My personal favourite line was,
"I lost you to a million little wrong decisions and chances that I never took."

Keep writing, coz your fans are waiting :)

"A Beautiful Dream"
Giullia King,
This poem is a lyrical little story in poem or prose form which is a gradual- level by level portrayal into a relationship and it's stages. Full of hope and joy but also realistic in its loss. The final stanza came as a bit of a surprise to me which made it even sweeter.
Blessings,
Kathy

I know that this is a poem and it is written beautifully but I feel like it would make a great lyrical poem

That's a nice idea, David :)
This is almost cleanly out of a movie that hasn't been produced yet, but definitely should. This reads like the end scene of something beautiful before the ending credits roll along, and I genuinely loved it. Great, great work, Gullia! :)

All good, G. I really, really liked this. :)
"unmistakably perfect?" quite intriguing words. liked 'em.

the portray of a very deep story-write you've smoothly spelled down in such spellbound words of poetry. every verse of its texture speakin' the virtue of love --- the love that's found but hardly beloved in same life. nice imagery here.

Emotionally perfect...
People dont always get what they desire. But one should get what one deserves.
And that makes all the difference...
The way of including dialouges is what I found lovable following the emotions poured.........

Thank you so much for your lovely words dear Anindita!
I like the way the words speak with clarity, eloquence, heartbreak and ends with an uplifting sense of finding perfection in an imperfect world. An all around artisitc approach to expressing emotions and memories!

Never a nice ending when the last words are the final goodbye. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry dear Poet.
