A Beautiful Dream

A Beautiful Dream

A Poem by Giulia King

"I guess I just got lost
And you never rescued me."
"I find myself getting lost in books,
Entering new worlds,
Liking empty coffee shops,
Getting lost in memories." She said

"You do hold that against me.
I didn't know where to look" he said.
"That's your problem,
You broke my heart.
That’s the agony of my truth.
But even when I cried myself to sleep every night,
I found hope in the stars,
That one day, you would find me."

"I wish our love would last an eternity,
But like everything precious in life,
I have to accept that it won't.
The way we found each other in this life,
surely we'll find each other in the next life as well."
Her voice was broken,
she kept looking down at her fingers, wishing he didn't see her tears.
She continued:

"Think of me as a beautiful dream.
That suddenly vanishes in the morning light.
Like a little piece of a blue sky."

"I lost you,
I lost you to a million little wrong decisions and chances that I never took."
"Where will you go?" he asked with tears in his eyes.
"I'm not sure where I'll end up,
But I'm sure it will be somewhere beautiful and peaceful"  she said as she gently put her hand on his cheek and wiped away his tears.
He was trying to smile through his tears,
feeling her warm hand against him for the last time.

Unmistakably perfect.

It's funny how a song can make me remember all the things I wish I could forget.
People don’t always get what they deserve in this world.

I loved how the dialogues flowed in this one. It is very emotional, personal and something which any lover from any part of the world could relate to.
My personal favourite line was,
"I lost you to a million little wrong decisions and chances that I never took."

Keep writing, coz your fans are waiting :)

Thank you so much Jade! Poured my heart out for this one..
Sigh!!! I think the most saddest truth of life is that life is uncertain and it depends on every single thing we do or do not do... There is a touch of romance as well sadness and pain in it that leaves the reader in tears... I like the responses she gave to him, filled with emotions as well as imageries... As long as we do not get everything that we want, our desire to find new stars will keep on going and will keep the life on earth meaningful...

Sincerely
Dhiman

I love this review! You are absolutely right! Thank you Dhiman :)
Such a sad, poignant piece, and beautifully crafted.
Though sad, I think you captured the truth behind why relationships don't work...and you said it all in this one line: I lost you to a million little wrong decisions and chances that I never took.
Nicely done.

Beautiful lines.. I was mesmerized by the beauty of your write-up..
I think if all of us got what we deserved here on earth then it would be like Heaven, right? and then what would be the purpose of Heaven? Just my thoughts.. I loved reading this :)

Ahh if only we did get! You are welcome! Always a pleasure, Miss Gullia 😊
This is very romantic and quite emotional.
But it seems more of a short story than a poem.
That's my opinion anyway, not everyone feels that way.
Overall it's really beautiful and well thought out.

So true! Thank you Starz! :)
Very well written and very wishful poetry. Hoping that the relationship last long forever. Somethings are never meant to be, I am also trying to learn about my past experiences some questions I have in mind only her could answer are left unanswered. But what could we do they already give up on us at some point we hurt them too. Or maybe we made them realize that things wont go through. Like you said "People don’t always get what they deserve in this world." Maybe we have to look back again... and maybe we have to look forward someone out there is meant for us. Let's learn something from the past and look forward. I write down memories to look back in case I forget. This also serves as a purpose to remind my self who am I back then and how should I correct my mistakes and try not to do it again. If life is like in the movies if possible in real life we could be on green fields dancing with the person that we love. That is a beautiful dream to come true. This is so true that I can relate to your poetry Gullia King, sending you good vibes! :)

LOL I ended up ranting here take care Gullia King :) xD
I think most of us can get lost in a song. I hear some now and cry over the loss of my husband...others I hear and others bring to mind funny things that happened in my life. Some nice lines in this write. Valentine
