Scent Of First Love

Scent Of First Love

A Poem by Giulia King

The rain started to drizzle.
Meanwhile she waits, with her heavy heart in her hands.
Wondering if he'll shatter it in to a million pieces or place it gently in his chest.
She tells herself, being broken can lead to something magical.
She takes a deep breath, closes her eyes and goes back to her first scent of love.
She can't help but smile sweetly at memories of them dancing beneath the moonlight.
When all their troubles went away like a blow in the wind.
And the galaxies in her eyes were far more beautiful than the stars in the night sky.
She opens her eyes and sees him.

Something short and simple. I really want to make this piece longer. Let me know what you think.

Love the way you let this unfold in a tentative way, laced with ups & downs of anticipation. You show a narrator getting up her nerve to try again, so realistically, this poem feels like it's urging on those who are still cowering in fear from too many hurts (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thank you so much! :)
I guess it's a happy ending. Nice poem of hope and love. Yes you should make the poem longer, I feel there's more to tell here.

I dont want to offend you Gullia. I thought of dogs sniffing each others bums when I read the title and wondered if they fall in love.

But about the poem...I liked it very much. It's comforting wistfulness was really pleasant to experience. Memories are such a salve.

I love your reviews, Tabby! They always put a big smile on my face :) I'm happy you like this one!!
I could see this being longer, too.
It is building already
and I like the flow and the beat of it
because brings so much to my mind as I read it.
Strong images come into play and I think about where this could go--if it were longer.

However, as is--it echoes the title and the subject now.
