A List: Everything I Owe You

A List: Everything I Owe You

A Poem by Hannah Paige

A List: Everything I Owe You

An apology

For all the times

That I lied

And a secret

For all the whispers

That made you cry

A kiss

For every girl

Who took your breath

And a wish

For all the ones

Who didn’t last

Copper,

A penny

For your thoughts

And ink,

A pen

So they don’t get lost

Some whisky

Some brandy

To deny your denial

The truth

Do you remember

The last time you smiled?

Darling,

My love

You’re soaked in deceit

A single rose

For you to hold

Until the thorns break free

Sunglasses

A mask

To disguise your sin

And a heart

My love

To fill your tin

I owe you

The world

But I’m bad at charades

I’m tired

And I’m losing

And I can’t play this game

Let’s play cards, Love

You’ll win

One last time

Because last

Is a note

For you, signed “goodbye”

This I found I was able to relate to in every way, and I like the imagery you provide, like it's all a game of cards... I really like your style as well, and I hope to see more from you! Well done :)
