Beautiful Nightmare

Beautiful Nightmare

A Poem by Hannah

You perfect pleading eyes beg me please,
as your weak body crumbles to your knees.
You lay beneath my dark intimidating door,
dragging yourself feebly across the cold floor.
You desperately whisper you forgive everything that I said.
and you love me and without me you feel empty and dead.
You act like your dying and trying to escape death's embrace,
and as you edge closer you reach out to gently touch my face.
You hold me for support and cling to my hand,
and carefully pull me closer as you stand.
This has to be the reason I was born,
for you to fix my broken heart when it was torn.
Tears of complete joy blur my vision as I begin to cry.
I would feel I had fulfilled my life if I was now to die.
You love me and I love you,
so now the fairytale ending could now come true.
Suddenely your amazing face begins to fade,
as I realize you are simply a image my mind has made.
My room becomes a prison disturbed by a ear splitting scream,
as I am brutally awaken from my cruel dream.
My twisted, shaking body is curled up in my bed
as I now feel numb and cold as if I am dead.
Being without you for months feels like I'm slowly dying.
I shudder violently in the dark as I start my crying.
I have seen other boys to show I have tried,
but I crushed their hearts cheated, stolen and lied.
With these poor, foolish boys I shared a kiss,
but it is your soft lips that I will always miss.
My heart breaks when I notice boys that look like you,
I just close my eyes because I don't know what else to do.
You have a new girl I heard,
I was one of the first to get the word.
I'm like a persistent spirit haunting a abandoned house,
as insignificant as a small hidden mouse.
I'm the lost memory that's unheard and unseen,
just another forgotten, unwanted broken teen.

Call me cuckoo for cocoa puffs, but this had a nice Rob Zombie tone to it.

Nicely done

First off, I would like to saythat this is an excellent poem. Truely, truely excellent, and I want to say that this was a job well done.

Poems about love lost always seem so vivid, so true, so REAL, and this poem just proves it. I would be surprised if you said that you haven't experienced this pain, because the way you write it suggests that you do. The last line was the one that really got me, the 'I'm just the lost memory that's unheard and unseen/just another forgotten, unwanted broken teen'. This line really rings true because there are so many people like that, girls especially.

Just one thing that bugged me just a little bit. The way that you flow from different parts of the dream sometimes confused me, and it forced me to go back and reread different parts to make sure I read right. Granted, dreams and nightmares are supposed to have that quality to them, so it is probably just me being a bit confused. :)

Thank you for writing a poem like this, and I'm glad that you have such talent to be able to write things like this! Please, keep writing.

I remember the pain of my first heartbreak. I was 17 and thought my world had ended. A wise woman told me this is the first time you have had your heart broken. You will have it broken again, but you will love again and one day you will love someone who will not break your heart. So will you. Excellent heartfelt piece Hannah
