Bedtime Story

Bedtime Story

A Poem by The Darkest Silhouette

Diamonds glisten

on black velvet demure

time and country

given to fade away

sky eternal

nighttime

in a grandfather's life

last night spent with Darling

silence becomes

their reverie

shattered

by her soft words

Darling whispered

“The sky is asleep”

“No,” he answered

“the whole world is asleep”

I agree with Lori, very eerie quality to the whole thing ( I feel bad about stealing her word, though. couldn't think of one better suited). There seems to be another story lying behind this poem, and I'd love to hear it. As a poem it isn't my style, but it stands strong. IO think the images give the reader a chance to see and picture whatever they imagine. well written.

Very evocative with a wonderfully hushed, eerie quality, too. It really paints a picture for the reader.
