I wrote this from the perspective of how, at times we feel trapped and stuck in a moment we cannot get out of…The feeling of lost hope and our struggle to fight off difficult times, feeling alone...
A storm is raging on the frothy sea Mountainous waves toss the vessel to and fro The ravaging Nor'easter wind impales with a deafening blow Raucous salty sheets of spray soak and dampen all around
A bucket bails the raged sloop She moans and groans as she’s flung about A sailor sails. A sailor endlessly bails Alone in the perfect storm
Two oars are manned on the stormy seas The halyard torn and ripped from mast To row and bail is an impossible feat It’s hard to tell when you’ve sprung a fateful leak
The captain mans the forlorn skiff Traditions sink down with the ship His furious soul laments life’s toil As violent waves crash the gunnels hold
He screamed out loud, “My time has come!” “My ship is sinking, her broken keel shall not be found!” The rampart boat, well fortified yet built to fail Plummets from hills of water pitifully tall
Cracks are leaking where the lurid light gets in But so does the water, will drowning soon begin? Lost hope floats the helpless, fearless, one man crew His soul now guides his ship
A vessel drifts lifeless on the empty calming sea Nothing but it can be seen for miles of skies The free board is deep the salty water high Two apathetic oars both silent, is a lost soul inside?
A poem from January that I tweaked this AM...It just jumped out onto the page during a darker, confusing moment... The short video adds an element of sight and sound for realistic affect...

Well done. I liked the comparison of a one man vessel in a storm to being stuck in a rough spot of life. It was great imagery and I could feel the salty water slap me in my face. I liked it. Thanks for sharing.
nicely done, life can feel like an ocean sometimes, so much it can make one both sick and at peace at the same time, the metaphor comes through crystal clearly.
Wow! This is fantastic! I loved the dramatic feel of this...accompanied by the sound of thunder and crashing waves, it adds an eerie tone to this piece. Excellent write!
Wow you read the words and its so vivid then you see the video and I get the helplessness and being alone it fills the senses. Good write and video scary.
After joining the writer’s cafe on March 28th of 2012 this “about me” space has been filled in numerous times as a life in motion seems like a never ending metamorphosis. In over.. more..
