The Dancing Girl

The Dancing Girl

A Poem by Harriet Rose
"

In Creative Writing class we had to write a creepy piece of writing, I had a go at writing a creepy poem.

"

I see her dancing,

dark hair swaying in the icy breeze,

gently pushing the swings and the

overgrown ferris wheel, rotting after years of

being haunted and broken

by the souls that roam,

waiting for their next victims.

The lake carries the cries of lost lives

and screams heard my no one but

The trees and leaves.

Abandoned. They are abandoned by

sanity and life.

How dare they haunt where their last breath is held?

How dare they?

Her dancing stops,

she hollers for Melanie,

where are you Melanie?

I’m lost, sister, please.

She stops.

The ferris wheel edges forward, spinning, spinning,

Snapping vines, breaking free of rust

and loneliness, music blaring,

gone.

This is indeed creepy. You have managed to write it in such a way that those spooky moments come alive as we go through the poem
