It's an Ice Walk

It's an Ice Walk

A Poem by Hatter at Heart

To walk along abandoned plains

For the unhappy, this means hurt

The winds will whip me back

Even held under a feather's weight

The frozen tundra, she will crack

Like the scorned wife of nature

Ready to feel her wrath

Jealous of my warmth

Wishing to be me

Of the countless bodies she has swallowed

Who have taken the same path

Though I'm not much to compare

I'll make up for their slack

Since desire melts the ice only

For those whose confidence lacks

For she who takes advantage

In my modest way of walking

Winter will take no notice

My true confidence

I'll meet you with discretion

And rise to the occasion

If it calls for self suppression

Since at the end of this tundra

Lies a true kind of confidence

I won't make the same mistake

In giving up easily
