Abandoned Beauty

Abandoned Beauty

A Poem by WindsorWolf28

Abandoned ruin,

Forgotten beauty,

Illuminated by dusty light.

An elegant shadow

in the haunted night.

Eloquent ghosts roam her head,

Stomping where no man could tread.

Wind blows in angry gusts,

Blinding the eyes of the best of us,

Dust unsettled,

Unshrouding the past,

Floating in the air

Like Chernobyl ash.

The front door creaks,

Screaming as a martyr pushes it open

To delve into the memory

Of this scarred and broken damsel.

Silence falls,

as he stares at her broken heart,

wonder in his eyes.

He searches through her secrets,

Finding comfort

In the smudged past.

Both have found their purpose

At last.
