My Pegasus

My Pegasus

A Poem by Helena

It must have been moon-glow

intoxication that entered

my soul one lonely night

a night when I thought

all was lost in heaven and earth

when I could no longer stand my

loveless existence

The ink black sky opened

in a burst of golden rainbow

colours clambering

to embrace this lonely

poetess whose pen had dried

like the shell of a fallen

star exposed to elements of

a changeable cosmos ~

You, my saviour of the night

keeper of my dreams,

rescuer of this woman

locked in a castle

high on the rugged cliffs

of loneliness overlooking

an angry sea ready

to drown all hopes

You came in answer

to a siren’s call

Never giving up

the Gods’ would hear

my prayers carried

in whispers on the

wings to your heart ~

Come my Pegasus...

ride across the infinite

heavens’ home of

uncountable stars

with your golden bridle

of love to the precious place

in my heart held only for you ~

Something magical happened here on a night when everything seemed lost. Certainly by the final line, the sense of loneliness had gone and a sense of something new had started. Lovely imagery here and I like your posted artwork Helena.

Sometimes miracles happen through other people, I like to view it that way.

i agree with John...makes us go a couple possible directions..but certainly---magic happened, mythological in its effect---but real at the same time.

Thanks for visiting and leaving your lovely review j.

This one is enticing. Did the poet have some sort of mystical experience, or did someone new enter her life? A case can be made for either possibility, but only the poet knows for sure. Quite a moving work.

No ink shall dry
from the well of poetry
