.....And What If

.....And What If

A Poem by Crowley
"

Written for a friend graduating from Seminary.

"

…..And What If

And what if she served the kingdom of man

Her strength and conviction born of need for change and a selfless devotion

I for one would listen, question, follow

For her wisdom is not hers and her love belongs to all

And He who guides her, guides us, take his hand

And what if I should fall skinning my knees, my soul

I trust that she would be there, lifting, supporting

I would excavate the path once more and share the joy

Surrounded by the love, the light

The touch of eternity upon the brow of mankind

Please Lord give me the strength and wisdom

But most of all give me compassion for myself

And I will promise to grow

For time and again she has taken my hand putting it in yours

If I might be so bold Lord, You have chosen well.

Tender and appreciative...touching in its gratitude and appeal to the Lord..a fine compilation of words, my friend...a very fine compilation of words

what brings this poem to life is the sentimental reasoning behind te meaning,
and the conviction the words draw in subtleness, and the skill and ease at
which you express, this is a prayer of the ponderer, and feels of the muse
that invigarates the poet at heart, very effective and melodic work here

Before I even got to the author's not, I decided to comment on how this was different for you. Without sounding sappy, I must say that it made me appreciate this softer side of you. I am used to your crude and raw realism/surrealism, said to myself, "Hmm...what do you know" :D

If I take anything away from this, it is the following lines (and i think paired up they add an extra effect",
"I would excavate the path once more and share the joy" and,
"And I will promise to grow"

Very well done.

this is tender, introspective, and yes, different for you, but excellent both for the content, and that it is so different from your norm.. i love it when you branch out!

I love the thanking the Lord for giving you that special person in your life who guides you in the right direction when you may choose to fall off the path into some dark hole hurting yourself. I the description and imagery in this poem are done quite well. the flow is not quite solid but the overall of the poem is amazing
