Black Widow

Black Widow

A Poem by Hunter Havoc

I knew I shouldn't trust you
But I just can't escape
Bait and switch
Oh so sick

Why was I so naive and sentimental
Was it because you said "forever"
Was it because I hoped "never"
I can still hear your voice today
Why can't I get away

You poured salt onto my wounds
The ache inside
The fear I hide
Just won't subside

Holding me down is my doubt
I fed myself lies to drown it out
It's a miracle if I survive
Now you left me here to die

You made me drink the poisoned wine
You made me cry
I've lost my mind

Devouring my heart and soul
I hope you choke
You don't know
I may be dead but I'm not alone
