I love you

I love you

A Poem by Hidden_identity
"

A poem to express my pathetic experience with love.

"
What is love?
I've read poems and stories about it
Without really understanding it
My friends say they are in love
But what is it?

They say I love you
But I possibly can't
To love is against my morals
I'd rather stay safe and alone
Admiring from a distance

It's eating me alive
The need to know if you like me back
I think about you all the time
I'm going crazy
Falling in love

I ask you one day
After the dance
If you like me
I wait for a minute which seems like days
That's when you said "I don't like you"

It hurt
Cutting into my heart
This is why I didn't want to love
Because your answer hurt more
Than not knowing at all

I think we've all been through this, being turned down. You've put it so simply into words, wonderful.
